Baked Tortilla Chips
Love chips but don't love the calories? Try this baked tortilla chips recipe. You easily can lose the calories, but not skimp on taste. This easy appetizer recipe goes well with all kinds of Low Fat Appetizers of dips and just by themselves. They taste so much better than the store bought variety, plus, they really are easy to make.
What you'll need: - 1 12-ounce package corn tortillas - 1 Tablespoon vegetable oil - 3 Tablespoons lime juice - 1 teaspoon ground cumin - 1 teaspoon chili powder - 1 teaspoon salt First, preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Next, cut each tortilla into 8 wedges (like you would a pie or pizza) and arrange the wedges in a single layer on a cookie sheet. You will need a mister and if you don't have one, a spray bottle might work, but not as efficiently as a mister would. With the mister, combine the oil and lime juice. Mix it well and then spray each tortilla chip wedge until it is slightly moist. Then, combine the cumin, chili powder and salt in a small bowl and sprinkle on the chips by hand. All you need to do is bake for about 7 minutes, then rotate the pan and bake for another 8 minutes or until the chips are crisp, but not too brown. Serve with salsas, garnishes or guacamole. Absolutely yummy! For more great easy appetizer recipes like this one, visit both the Chip Dip page and also the Low Fat Appetizers page. You'll be glad you did!
