What could be more yummy than this delicious and refreshing summertime (or any time!) cocktail? A Smash is not technically a well-defined catagory in cocktails, but who cares? It's a chance to think out of the Gin and Tonic box and make something different that will be just as enjoyable on a hot summer day.
And as always, you can make the Raspberry Thyme Smash for adults AND kids (just leave out the gin for the kiddos) and you'll please everybody! Try it out for a holiday gathering. Or just try it out because you feel like it!
What you'll need for this drink recipe:
- 2 fresh thyme sprigs, divided
- 7 fresh raspberries, divided
- ice cubes
- 1/4 cup of Gin
- 2 tablespoons Simple Syrup*
- 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
What to do:
Remove the leaves from 1 sprig of thyme
and place in a cocktail shaker.
Add 6 raspberries and mash with a muddler or a wooden spoon.
Fill the cocktail shaker with ice and add the gin, Simple Syrup, and lime juice. Cover and shake vigorously until cold. Strain into highball glass filled with ice. Thread the remaining raspberry onto a thyme sprig and decorate the rim of the glass.
For the Simple Syrup:
Stir 1 cup of sugar and 1 cup of water in small saucepan over low heat until the sugar dissolves. Bring to a boil, take off the heat and cool. Cover and chill.
