Hungarian Spiced Cheese Dip
A New Twist on an Old Theme
The next time you need to take a dip to a party, try this special spiced cheese dip recipe from Hungary. You'll watch it disappear within minutes. Not only does it taste good, but it's good for you too. How can you go wrong?
What you'll need: - 1 cup cottage cheese - 1 tsp capers (mashed) - 1 tsp caraway seeds - 1/2 cup sour cream - 1/2 tsp dry mustard - 2 Tbsp green onion (chopped) - 2 tsp Hungarian paprika
First, strain the cottage cheese in a colander to remove the excess water. Then cream it in a blender or food processor. You can also use an electric mixer. Don't blend so much that it starts to get runny.
Put the blended cottage cheese into a bowl and add the paprika, caraway seeds, capers, mustard and green onion. Blend all the ingredients together until almost smooth.
Next, blend in the sour cream. Cover and chill the mixture. This makes about 1 3/4 cups of dip. Isn't your mouth watering already?
Some suggested dippers would be:
- chicken (baked or bbq'd)
- string beans (cooked slightly)
- cherry tomatoes
- red, yellow, or green peppers (sliced into strips)
Enjoy this lovely tasting dip!
